These materials concern the Simpson family that emigrated from Northern Ireland to Philadelphia (and eventually Illinois) in the early 1800s. Family members represented in the papers include Margaret Cordner Simpson (1807-1898) and John Simpson (b. 1803). There are three letters, dated 1843, 1845, and 1851, in which are discussed legal issues, general events, and family matters. The 1851 letter originated from a family member in Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. There is also a photocopy of a typed 3-page memoir entitled "I Remember Grandmother: This is the Story of Margaret Cordner Simpson, 1807-1898." |
