The 1860 edition was the first authorized edition, having been preceded by an unauthorized edition of 1858, containing materials not intended to be published. Text illustrated with woodcuts, and eight tinted lithographs signed by Xántus, and dated 1858; and engraved by Haske és Társa, dated 1859. According to Sabin, several drawings appear to have been copied, with only minor changes, from those of R. H. Kern in Sitgreave's "Report of an Expedition down the Zuni and Colorado Rivers." Includes [3] pages of publisher's advertisements at end. |
