Summary: This Systems and Procedures Exchange Center (spec) kit examines the practices of Association of Research Libraries (arl) member libraries in the area of cultural diversity programming. These libraries were surveyed to determine if they offered a program which supported ethnic/cultural sensitivity training in the workplace. Survey responses indicate that cultural diversity programming in arl libraries ranges from libraries which have no program at all to those which have well-established, comprehensive programs. Survey results are presented for the following areas: library programs; recruiting, retaining, and managing diverse workforces; and library services. Major issues and trends in cultural diversity programming are identified. Also included are planning documents, activity descriptions, and position descriptions which represent the cultural diversity programming at the following universities: University of Buffalo; University of California (Santa Barbara, Berkeley, Santa Cruz); Colorado State University; Indiana University; University of Iowa; University of Michigan; University of Michigan (Ann Arbor); Michigan State University; University of Minnesota; National Library of Canada; Purdue University; Stanford University; Temple University; and University of Texas (Austin).
