"The records here transcribed are taken from three documents, one in the Bodleian Library (Tanner ms. 433) and two in the Public Record Office (E157/21 and 22) At the foot of each of the three is the name of the responsible official, Henry Hill, who is described in one of them as 'deputie clarke to the office for passengers over sea.'"
