Item Description: |
Includes index. "The late Mr. Edwin S. Dunkerly, a member of the Genealogical Society of Pennsyvlania, often visited cemeteries, especially those which were in danger of closing. He, along with his friend, J. Sturgis Nagle, recorded many tombstone inscriptions; however not every stone was included--some were eroded or unreadable, some were in the ground or turned over. Also, Mr. Dunkerly was "selective". He was very interested in war vetrans, and names long associated with Philadelphia. If you find a name, be sure to check the dates with primary sources; i.e. city vital records, newspaper notices, the cemetery interments, etc."--from title page. |
