545 |a Leonard Strömberg published more than 40 novels, plus poems, essays and short stories. Born in Sweden, he received his theological degree from the Methodist Theological Seminary at Uppsala. In 1895, he traveled to St. Louis, Mo., where his older brother was a minister. From there he was sent to minister in Concord, Nebraska. Strömberg wrote most of his work in Swedish, but was published in both Sweden and the United States. In the 1920s and 1930s he was one of the most widely read authors in Sweden. His stories were frequently about young men, orphaned or starting from other difficulties, who raise themselves up by hard work and dedication.
