He served as state secretary of the Pennsylvania Socialist Party from 1923 to 1927, and socialist member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly from 1930 to 1936, and national chairman of the Socialist Party of the United States from 1946 to 1968. He was the Socialist Party candidate for the presidency in 1952 and 1956. | ||
