Depicts military parades and ceremonies showing award presentations, christenings, launchings, the honor guard, and crowds. Particular attention is given to celebrations of Navy Day and Dewey Day. Illustrates the lifestyle of shipyard employees with images of security conditions, workers' domestic lives, payday, noon hour rallies and entertainment, and lines of people leaving the yard. Machinists, technicians, mechanics, and air base ground crews are among those pictured. Special focus is on women workers at the yard performing a variety of duties. Women are also emphasized at the aircraft factory, along with pilots. The Air Training School views portray pilots with aircraft, attending classes,a nd taking physical examinations. Images of the drydocks and related equipment are included, as well as views of inactive World War I and II battleships. Shows crowds attending war bond and production rallies. Exterior views show the gates to the yard, the chapel, the trailer canteen, an elevation of a warehouse, and the plant exterior after a fire. Also depicts a demonstration to extinguish a fire on aircraft. Many images are bird's eye views of League Island. | ||
