Published conformably to the decree of the national assembly of the 22nd of April, 1791. "In three volumes". Translated from the French. Translation of: Voyage de La Pérouse autour du monde; a different translation than that of the London : G.G. & J. Robinson, 1798 edition. Includes selections of vocabulary in the Ecclemach and Port des Français languages in vol. 2; these languages would appear to be part of the Wakashan group of languages spoken on the Pacific Northwest coast. Also in vol. 2 is a selection of vocabulary in the language of the inhabitants of Tchoka island, which is identified as located near the Kamchatka Peninsula. Includes also, "Narrative of an interesting voyage in the frigate La Princesa, from Manilla to San Blaz, in 1780 and 1781", by Francisco Antonio Maurelle, v.1. pages 340-418. Extract "From the narrative of a voyage made in 1779" by Don Francisco Antonio Maurelle, v. 1. pages 418-439 Vol. 2. chapter 11, describes a visit to Monterey and the mission San Carlos; chapter 12, includes an account of the vocabulary of the Indians adjacent to Monterey.
