The main literary work on this publication was principally done by Oliver B. Bunce, with mulitple entries by R.E. Garczynski, W.H. Rideing, and Constance F. Woolson. The introduction was written and proof-sheets read by W.C. Bryant.
"Contents" in each volume includes names of authors and artists. "List of engravings on steel" in each volume includes names of artists and engravers.
