Pedro Supelana was born in the Philippines in 1929. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1964 and became a U.S. citizen in 1964. In 1967 he moved to Philadelphia, where he worked as an advertising manager. Supelana held leadership positions in a number of Filipino-American and Asian-American community organizations in Philadelphia and elsewhere, and supported national efforts to win Filipino veterans equal rights to benefits and the right to naturalize as U.S. citizens.
