The collection is an assemblage of autographs and autograph letters, some accompanied by biographical information, primarily of German Americans. Most were collected by Cronau on his travels in the American West. Also present are a passport for Cronau and watercolor paintings by the German biologist Ernst Haeckel. Addendum, raf 07/05/05: These additions consist of two small drawings made by Big Man and One Bull and presented to Cronau during his stay at Fort Rand, S. Dakota, October 1881. Each depicts two men on horseback seen in profile drawn in pencil with red accents.
