Summary: In this donation are papers from the Estate of Marjory Reid Abbott of Colorado Springs, Colorado, along with books a few books on Quakers and Quakerism. Marjory's parents were W. Lewis Abbott and Helen Shreve Abbott (died 1975), both Philadelphia natives and Quakers. The couple moved to Colorado Springs in the early 1920s and there raised two daughters, Elizabeth and Marjory. This collection is comprised primarily of 19th and early 20th century family history and vital records, correspondence, and legal documents from the Abbotts and related families, such as the Woods and Reids. Some items are addressed to the Abbotts in Philadelphia at 2112 Arch Street and various members of the Wood family, also in Philadelphia. There are also miscellaneous clippings, guides to Philadelphia theatre venues and other small booklets, and what appears to be an original issue of the Ulster County Gazette (Kingston, NY), 4 January 1800. The volumes on Quaker and Quakerism range in date from 1790 to 1998.
