Summary: Archbishop Torkom Manoogian is the Armenian patriarch of Jerusalem and former primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, New York. His first assigned parish in the United States was at Holy Trinity Armenian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, when it was located at 6th and Susquehanna Streets, from 1946 to 1951. He has maintained strong ties in Philadelphia with parishioners and priests. The collection includes approximately 125 photos documenting Archbishop Manoogian's career from his years as a young priest to his position as the primate of the Eastern Diocese of New York. Also included are approximately eight audio microcassettes, most of which document sermons and speeches from the late 1980s. A partial inventory is included.
