In 1898, he was appointed secretary of the finance committee for the Peace Jubilee, a celebration held in Philadelphia which commemorated the conclusion of the Spanish-American War in 1898. It included multiple festivities, such as military, naval, and civic parades. At the time, Philadelphia was the first city to hold such an event; as a result, it received national attention. The collection contains correspondence, photographs, circulars, lists, and other documents that are associated with Moore’s involvement as finance secretary. Boxes 7 and 8 contain photographs of the proceedings. All of the photographs are labeled and numbered but there are no references to the numbers within the collection. There are photographs of President William McKinley who attended the celebration and events associated with the Jubilee, such as the Naval Day Review and Civic Day Parade. The remaining material in the collection includes an acceptance and regrets book, order forms, requisitions, tickets, unused checks, and a list of contributors. | ||
