description William Parker, probably not the abolitionist, wrote this letter to "Issac Tea happer" (most likely Isaac T. Hopper, then president of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society) and "Mr. Absolul Johnis" (most likely Absalom Jones, founder and preist of the African Methodist Episcopal Church) requesting a duplicate "letter of protection." He explains that he has been imprisoned and is being held in a prison hulk (H.M.S. Salerdom?) at Plymouth, England. He asks that the letter of protection and copies of "books" be mailed to William Lyman, who at the time was U.S. Consul in London.
