Summary: Large theater poster for "Jay Rial's ideal Uncle Tom's Cabin," a theatrical rendition of the novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe. The poster illustrates an iconic scene from the book in which Eliza, one of the protagonists, and her son are pursued across an ice floe by kidnappers wanting to sell her back into slavery. "Jay Rial's Ideal Uncle Tom's Cabin" was one of hundreds of "Tom shows," essentially glorified minstrel shows based loosely on the novel, that were popular from the 1850s to the turn of the century.
