Summary: John Fryer was a activist for gay rights, a psychitrist, and a church organist.  His papers contain items related to all of these activities.  This document addresses the state of the Episcopal Church in 1967 and Fryer's views on changes that were happening outside of and within the Church.  Fryer went on th become most well-known for his 1972 appearance, disguised as "Dr. H. Anonymous," during the American Psychiatric Association's Annual Meeting where he discussed being gay and a psychiatrist.  This speech is considered an important event in the decision to remove homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
