Summary: This digital record contains one image which depicts an undated engraving made from an unfinished plate. The scene is directly taken from the Robert Edge Pine [1742-1788] painting of the same title [which was once in HSP's possession but has since passed to Atwater Kent]. The engraving was made by Edward Savage [1761-1817]. Pine's depiction of the signing of the Declaration of the Independence is considered the most accurate, since he was the only artist who was present at the event.
