Summary: Richard Peters, Sr.'s letter written on behalf of Deputy Governor Derry addressed to the Friendly Association. Peters informs the committee that the Governor will not grant them "Inspection of the council books before his Honour the Governor." He also reminds them that diplomatic relations with Native Americans is purely the authority of the appointed Governor, the King, and his deputy for the Northern District of "Indian Affairs." The Friendly Association was a private Quaker initiative to establish peaceful relations with Native Americans through pacifist negotiations and policies.
