Commonplace book of John Laurens includes his observations on military activities in the American Revolution and on the importance of defending the Carolinas from the British. Also included is his account of the aid rendered by the French fleet in the Chesapeake and Delaware bays, under command of Comte de Grasse and Comte d'Estaing, preventing the arrival of British reinforcements and retarding British operations. Note: This book was written from both the front and back. Images 11 through 19 were written from the back. They were re-oriented and re-ordered to be legible. Most of the book pages are blank. One blank page from each end is included for reference. |
