| 520 | |a The Austrian-American Society of Pennsylvania (AASOP) was founded in 1981 as the Austrian Society of Pennsylvania. Its mission was to promote and foster an appreciation for the Austrian culture regionally and state-wide. It's members held social events, including the Johann Strauss Ball, lectures and educational forums, put together newsletters, served charities such as SOS Kinderdorf, and maintained connections with Austria and other Austrian societies. The AASOP disbanded in 2016 due to lack of interest in filling leadership positions on the board. This collection of records of the Austrian-American Society of Pennsylvania spans much of its history and includes copies of incorporation documents, notes on the history of the organization, membership and meeting notes, pamphlets and programs from its Johann Strauss Ball, some financial information, general brochures, information on its website, and photographs. There is also a CD containing electronic copies of various AASOP documents. | ||
