Wagner enlisted in the Union Army in 1864 and served with Stark's Company C, 67th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He later became a member of the Charles Albright Post, No. A83, GAR, Three Springs, PA. This colorful memorial certificate, complete with several vignettes, describes Wagner's service record and notes that he was honorably discharged in Philadelphia at the end of the war. It was issued in memory of his first wife Catherine to his then current wife, Alvaretta, and their children on 15 July 1904.
