Summary: |
In October 1908 the city of Philadelphia celebrated the 225th anniversary of its founding with a week of festivities called "Founders Week," which featured a historical pageant on October 9th. Adele Hamilton Turner of Philadelphia, great great grandniece of Betsy Ross, played the role of Ross in the pageant.
The scrapbook, apparently compiled by Turner, includes letters to her from the pageant organizers and others as well as photos and clippings about the pageant and other Founders Week events. At the back of the scrapbook is a certificate stating that Miss Turner participated in the Frankford Historical Pageant, November 1, 1912. |
