Trent became the owner of Penn's slate roof house in 1705, and sold it to Isaac Norris in 1709, after spending 1,000 pounds on repairs. He is the man for whom Trenton is named. An 1897 newspaper article laid into the volume appears to be based on extensive research in the ledger itself, which at that time was stored in the safe at the Mercantile Library. The ledger, 1703-1709, includes business and personal expenses, as well as numerous references to shipping.
