Summary: Image: 1/4 plate; Seated man with hair parted on one side, a beard and mustache, wearing a dark jacket buttoned with a strap from the inside of one lapel to the outside of the other, dark trousers, a white shirt, and a dark bow tie, color applied to his cheeks. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and ornate (late 1850s) with liberty shields in each corner. Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a geometric design both front and back, with an exterior and interior gilded edge trim, a plum velvet pinchpad and a plum velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850s).
