Summary: Image: 1/6 plate;Seated woman with arm resting on cloth covered posing table, hair parted in the center, wearing a white daycap set back on her head, decorated with lace, tied with white ribbons under her chin, and a long-sleeved striped silk dress with gathers at the waist front, a small white standing collar with a neck ribbon, and white undersleeves. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with ornate matte finish (late 1850s onward). Case: Leather-covered wood frame half case embossed with a geometric design on the back, with an interior gilded edge trim, and a red velvet pinchpad (ca. 1850).
