Summary: Image: 1/6 plate; Woman seated in elaborate posing chair with arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, her hair parted in the center oiled smooth over the head with short jaw-length ringlets covering the ears, wearing a pattern-printed dress with a small whitework collar, forearm-length sleeves trimmed with ribbon, and moderate length sleeve caps also trimmed with matching ribbon, with narrow cuffed undersleeves, color applied to her cheeks and the table covering. Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Nonpariel with matte finish (mid 1840s to mid 1850s). Case: Leather-covered wood frame embossed with a floral design on the front and a scarce Geometric design (Berg No. 5-81) on the back, interior gilded edge trim, with a red velvet pinchpad, and a red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (1850s).
