Preserver: Straight but more ornate (1850s). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather covered wood frame embossed with a geometric design on the front only, with an interior gilded edge trim, an eggplant purple pinchpad, and a ruby red velvet cushion embossed with a geometric design (ca. 1850).
