Summary: Image: 1/6 plate; Seated woman with arm resting on a cloth-covered posing table, with hair parted in the center with a late-fifties padded wings hairstyle, wearing a short-sleeved, shoulder-baring stripe patterned dress with wide dark bretelles, fringed over the arms, meeting at a V under a dark belt with a large center buckle and a gold watch chain at her waist, fine netted silk mitts, drop earrings, two thin chains around her neck, and a ring on her finger, color applied to her cheeks. Preserver: Fancier with inward points at the corners (after 1858). Mat: Oval with matte finish and simple embossed design (1850). Case: Leather-covered wood-frame half case embossed with geometric design, with a gilded edge trim and a red velvet pinchpad (1850s).
