Summary: This folder contains former volume 6, pages 141 to 190 of the extra illustrated version of John Galt's The Life, Studies and Works of Benjamin West. It contains correspondences, prints, and an expenditure account from 1798 relating to Francesco Bartolozzi's engravings of West's paintings. The bulk of the material dates between 1800 and 1815, with two letters from the 1830s. Oversize pages are in box 3, folder 7. Not digitized are West's financial accounts and receipts dating between 1814 and 1819, which are also located in this folder.

John Galt wrote two volumes covering the life of Benjamin West. The first was published in 1816 and contains biographical information from West’s birth to his travels in Italy in the 1760s. The second volume contains West’s move to London and his subsequent career as historical painter to King George III, and ends with West’s death in 1820.
