Summary: This folder contains former volume 2, pages 151 to 169 of the extra illustrated version of John Galt's The Life, Studies and Works of Benjamin West. It contains a bond from Edmund and Richard Burke to Christopher Hargrave, a transcription of a toast given at a dinner of the Royal Academy, letters to and from West, and prints of notable contemporaries. Most dated materials are from the 1810s. One oversize page in in box 3, folder 3.

John Galt wrote two volumes covering the life of Benjamin West. The first was published in 1816 and contains biographical information from West’s birth to his travels in Italy in the 1760s. The second volume contains West’s move to London and his subsequent career as historical painter to King George III, and ends with West’s death in 1820.
