Summary: This colored map of "Greater Romania" was published in 1919, shortly after World War I. The province of Banat, from which most of Philadelphia's early Romanian immigrants hailed, lies to the far southwest of the country. Pictured on the upper left corner of the map are Romania's King Ferdinand and Queen Marie, the latter whose visit to Philadelphia in 1926 included the local Romanian community and parish of Descent of the Holy Spirit.
